Your time can sometimes be even more powerful than your dollars.
Consider how you can support a nonprofit with cash, but also think about the goods and services, technical assistance, and volunteer hours that might also be meaningful. Even participating in a fundraising event, and encouraging your friends to join in, might help to raise money AND foster new relationships that will benefit both the nonprofit and you!
“We embraced a company culture of supporting the community and found that it was really fun to give back.” – Josh Wolkon, owner, Vesta Dipping Grill and winner of the National Philanthropy Day Outstanding Small Business Award
Summer 2010 - Get up and Give Digital Media Challenge from GoodSpark
Are you creative? Care about your community? Looking for a new challenge? Look no further. GoodSpark, a Denver-based nonprofit that exists to engage and empower the next generation of philanthropists, is seeking entries for the first annual Get Up & Give Digital Media Challenge. You're invited (individuals, nonprofits, creative community) to create a digital short or photograph that will inspire young professionals to take action – giving of their time or money to make their community and world a better place. Participants can use whatever inspires them – your favorite cause, a nonprofit in your backyard, the story of one person or the plight of many.
The top three photos and digital shorts will be selected by the public during the Get Up & Give event on Thursday, September 9 at Space Gallery. Winners will receive a cash prize that they can gift to the cause of their choice. You win, everybody wins.
The deadline to apply is August 26, 2010.
